First Ride with the Team

I rode with the Reston Bike Club's "3" ride tonight, which started at the Herndon Caboose and took us out and up north of Rte.7, up Algonkian Parkway. I didn't realize where we were until we passed Lowes Island Blvd. -- holy crap, we had practically flown up to Frohnhoefer's place!

The pace was pretty high, 25-30mph for most of the time. I did get to pull for about 30 seconds, and then 15 or 20 riders just flowed around me and I was near the back again. Woah.

I got to meet a few more Evo teammembers: Brian (who I met on Monday), Rich, Phil (who I met on Monday), and Craig. Cool beans!

Statistics:
Bike: Trek 5200
Distance: 24.59mi
Saddle Time: 1h10m55s
Actual Time: 1h15m
Start Time: 6:15PM
End Time: 7:30PM
Start Conditions: Warm
End Conditions: Cooling, Darkening
Max Speed: 33.3mph
Avg Speed (saddle): 20.8mph!!! (this is my fastest ever posted average speed)
Avg Speed (actual): 19.7mph
Odometer: 1091.5mi

Turns out that the "3" ride is right about where I'm at, where I can maintain the pace and still be intelligible.

Evolution Cycling

Just got back from the Evolution Cycling team meeting tonight; they seem like a good bunch of people. A good bunch of FIT people. It was a enjoyable meeting, with the President going over things and having other riders regale the group with the stories of their most recent races and accomplishments. I didn't need to eat the dinner, but oh well -- I'll ride it off tomorrow.

I've done it: I've signed up to become a member of Evolution Cycling.

My first team ride with them will be on Thursday, 6PM, Herndon Caboose.

Edit: Holy freakin' crap! Some of the guys I met tonight don't look as old as their profiles on the Evo website say. Like this guy: http://www.evolutioncycling.org/new/about/2010/TheodoreWilson.html -- could've sworn he was late 20's or maybe very early 30's...but 43? Holy crap! Or this guy: http://www.evolutioncycling.org/new/about/2010/LuisInfante.html -- I would've also put him at late 20s. Dang.
